Switching to Minutemailer

If you are using something other than Minutemailer to send emails or schedule content to social media here’s a simple guide on how to switch to Minutemailer.

From Mailchimp

Mailchimp is an advanced tool for working with newsletters, but it’s not for everyone. Minutemailer has an easier interface and lets you combine social media and emails in one platform. Work faster, cheaper and get more things done using Minutemailer.

  1. Log into MailChimp.
  2. Click the Lists tab.
  3. Click the name of the list you want to export.
  4. Click Export List.
  5. The file is prepared for download on your Subscriber Exports page. Once it is done, click Export. Save the file to your computer's desktop.
  6. Log into Minutemailer.
  7. Go to your Contacts.
  8. Choose a list or create a new list.
  9. Click Import contacts.
  10. Upload your file.
  11. Congratulations! Now you are ready to create emails using Minutemailer.

If your list contains special characters, your export may not display correctly in Excel. To see special characters in Excel, use one of these workarounds.

  • Change the file extension from .csv to .txt, then open the file in Excel. When Excel prompts for the file type and character encoding, set encoding to UTF-8.
  • Open the CSV file in a text editor, and make sure the text editor's settings are set to UTF-8 encoding. Copy all the content from the text editor and paste it into a blank Excel sheet. Then use the Text-To-Columns function in Excel to split everything into columns.

From Campaign Monitor

Campaign Monitor is also a more advanced tool for working with newsletters, but its not for everyone. Minutemailer has an easier interface and lets you combine social media and emails in one software. Work faster and get more things done using Minutemailer.

  1. Log into Campaign Monitor.
  2. Open Lists and Subscribers.
  3. Click on a list name to open the list details page, then click the export link:
  4. Use the Export menu to select the type of subscribers you want to download, for example, "Active Subscribers" only or "All Subscribers."
  5. Choose your preferred file type: CSV or tab delimited.
  6. Select which subscriber fields to include in the download.
  7. Click Export Subscribers to download the file.
  8. Log into Minutemailer.
  9. Go to your Contacts.
  10. Choose a list or create a new list.
  11. Click Import contacts.
  12. Upload your file.
  13. Congratulations on making the right move! You are now ready to create emails using Minutemailer.

From Buffer

Buffer is a platform for scheduling to social media alone. By switching to Minutemailer you can schedule content to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and send great looking emails and newsletters. All in one tool. Its easier, more cost effective than multiple platforms and you get a better overview from our content calendar.

Switching from Buffer to Minutemailer is really easy as all your contacts are already connected through your different social channels already. The only thing you have to do is connect your social media accounts to Minutemailer.

  1. Log into Minutemailer.
  2. Go to your settings page.
  3. Click on the Connections tab.
  4. Connect the channels that you will use.
  5. Congratulations! Now you are ready to schedule content using Minutemailer. And create some crisp, clean email marketing.

Questions and answers

Q: My old software supported multiple data fields. What happens to them when I import into Minutemailer?
A: Right now Minutemailer only support a name field and an email field. Everything else will be discarded. We are working on adding more meta data to the contact lists. Keep hold of your original contact databases for the future for now.

Q: I'm missing feature X or Y from my old software. When will Minutemailer have that feature?
A: We are constantly improving Minutemailer but it's important for us to keep Minutemailer simple and easy to use. Send us an email to ask about specific features and we’ll let you know what’s in the pipeline.
